Dictatorship versus democracy

It's not surprising that voters in so-called 'democratic' countries are confused as to who or what is cauing their suffering, their disenfranchisement and impoverishment, and therefore confused about who to vote for. The reason is that the opposition between dictatorships such as those of China, Iran, and Russia, and 'democracies' such as Australia, The UK and the USA, is not as simple as it might seem. The 'democratic' countries actually have a non-democratic, dictatorial system embedded within them, namely capitalism. Therefore, the 'democratic' countries' systems are a hybrid of democracy and dictatorship, and the dictatorial system largely overpowers the democratic. It is this dictatorial system which is disenfranchising and impoverishing workers, but many can't seem to focus this system as the cause of their troubles, and look instead for a 'change' in the form of even more extreme capitalism, that of the far-right.

In 'democratic' countries, capitalism has blurred itself into the general idea of democracy, which is why many voters can't isolate it and see how it is to blame.

The operations of capitalism are clearly anti-democratic: money has power and so the elite wealthy or 'owner' class has power, while the 'worker' class does not. Working conditions and remuneration, and therefore the quality of life of workers, are determined by business owners. This is why many people at present find that their job does not provide them with sufficent funds for the basics of life, such as food, housing, child-care, education, and so on. And there is little or nothing they can do about this: they do not have any power.

The solution to this problem is not more capitalism, it is more democracy, the reduction of the power of money. Nor is the solution further tinkering with capitalism, which is what the Labour and Liberal parties engage in. The capitalist system is like a powerful vacuum cleaner which sucks money upwards where it accumulates. It does not a have reverse switch, and the accumulation of money within an elite, and the accompanying impoverishment of the majority, accelerates over time, because money makes money. Thus we are beginning to see 'trillionaires'!

The first step in addressing a problem is to identify its cause. The cause of the impoverishment of people in 'democracies' is that it is not democracy which is the prevailing system, it is capitalism. This does not seem like a complicated message to deliver to voters.
